Why use Expecto Centum

Older discipline. Sharper tools.

Reasons to keep the forge at hand.

I❖
Reason I

Eliminate vibe-coded slop

Expecto Centum promotes structured workflows that produce predictable, repeatable outcomes. With these guardrails in place, you can rest assured the AI is developing code safely — freeing you to be as creative as possible.

A Correctness stage's log in the Claude Code pane: its verdict requests changes, with the reason and the checks it ran.
II☙
Reason II

Avoid paying max-tier prices

Before shelling out for a single $100–$200 max-tier plan, try two or three entry-level plans — Claude Pro, ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro at around $20/month each — from different providers and deploy them across different stages of a workflow. Cheap stages ride on cheap plans, and if one provider gets rate-limited or goes down mid-run, failover redundancy lets you pivot to another provider instead of dead-ending on your one and only subscription.

III❦
Reason III

Verify the guardrails

Other AI workflow tools take your prompt, do some magic behind the curtains, and hand back the result. What's behind the curtains? Slop. Hallucinations. With Expecto Centum, you see exactly how the sausage is made, and that every stage was built to bring out the best in your AI agent.

A stage's prompt open for editing: the instructions it gives its agent, with variables filled in from the ticket and repository.
IV❧
Reason IV

Avoid context bloat

Any workflow stage that uses an agent gets its own clean context, keeping its output sharp instead of letting quality decay as the context window fills. Track token usage for every stage so you can verify the work stayed clear of "the dumb zone" (anything past ~40% of a context window).

A run's token counter and runtime, with the tokens and time each greenfield stage used.
V✦
Reason V

Keep specs honest

Does no one on the team know how a function actually works? Our workflows keep specifications updated with every behavioral change. Does sales think something works one way while your developer points to code that says otherwise? Expecto Centum keeps engineering docs in sync with user-facing copy.
